HB 1023 is a proposed bill that if passed would require the board of education and other similar organizations to implement weapon detection scanners in Georgia public schools. The bill would seek to prevent individuals from entering educational institutions with the intent to cause disruption or harm. The bill was introduced by Chuck Efstration (D-District 104) and has five other sponsors as of now.
Everything Georgia posted early yesterday to notify their followers on the new bill being proposed by Representative Efstration. The bill would bring about weapon detection scanners in public schools entrances across all of Georgia. It would put those who feel unsafe at ease and discourage those who would want to spread that fear to others, whether it be students or staff.
This stakeholder responded to WSB-TV’s post on the bill with their own view on more weapon detection systems to potentially be implemented. They tagged FBI Director, Kash Patel in their tweet with their belief that Georgia has enough weapon detection systems across its school systems.

This stakeholder from Sandy Springs shared their views on multiple bills that were recently being discussed in the current general assembly session. They also chimed in on the conversation on HB 1023 by pointing out the potential price tag along with questioning the capability of the weapon detectors.
