NPR (National Public Radio) is a non-profit organization focused on making a more well-informed public. Upon analysis, their website is professional and put-together. They have categories for news, culture, music and podcasts which you can peruse easily. The hierarchy of information on the page makes sense and leads your eye well. Each story has its own container and is organized visually utilizing font size and weight. The body font that they use is easy to read but has a hint of elegance because of it being a serif font. The headings are easy to read and simple. Their audience would mainly consist of adults that are quickly checking the news so a website that is easy to use is very important. Their brand is also very strong. Their brand colors are bright and feel professional. The red represents passion and warmth while the blue represents purpose and confidence. The ‘about me’ has a pathos voice as they discuss their brand mission and their ethics, however, they interject with a tone of logos which includes an infographic, re-engaging the user and making statistics easier to digest. Overall, they have a good usage of rhetoric when it comes to their brand voice.
They have multiple social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, X, and Tik Tok. They utilize all of their platforms in the same manner; they post snippets of their stories on social platforms and link the story in the post or their bio, basically utilizing social media to increase their reach. Overall, it seems that people enjoy NPR; many find it as a mostly unbiased source as it is a conglomerate of different groups and people with different perspectives and views. Though NPR is based in the US, people of many different nations use NPR as well due to being a reliable source. However, due to a slight slant to the left politically, there are people out there that do not enjoy NPR or any public broadcasting it seems. I believe the biggest issue in that backlash from certain groups are the fact that a lot of people don’t click the link to the website to see the full story, all they see is that snippet that is posted on social media, and they go with it.
